BETHANY, Okla. —
For the first time in over a year, caregivers at Daily Living Centers were able to properly bathe their seniors and disabled adults thanks to a community group.
A new shower was installed at the adult day center in Bethany. Families said showering loved ones at home can not only be emotionally, but physically, straining.

“A lot of time for our caregivers, it’s too difficult for them, a lot of our participants can’t bathe on their own," said Amanda Dirmeyer, the vice president of development and social services for the center. “Unfortunately, our bathing equipment was out of order, and we could no longer order replacement parts for that.”
After hearing Daily Living Centers had an urgent need, West Oklahoma City Rotary immediately took action.
“There’s not a more worthy cause that we can think of,” said Mark White, the Rotary club president. “In about two weeks time, we were able to raise the funds internally.”
The club raised $8,000 for the new shower and oversaw the construction personally.
“That takes a special kind of heart to take care of folks like this," said White. “I’m really proud and thankful for how our club responded.”
