Service Above Self Stories

On January 18th, the West OKC Rotary Club embarked on its most significant service project of the year. Thanks to a generous district grant, we were able to provide 1000 Spanish-English dictionaries to four elementary schools within the Western Heights School District. This ambitious endeavor required meticulous planning and coordination as the club aimed to deliver dictionaries to all four schools simultaneously.

The West OKC Rotary Club! On November 20th, they gathered together to label the new Spanish-English dictionaries they had purchased. It's fantastic to hear that the club received a grant from Rotary District 5750 to fund this project. With this support, the West OKC Rotary Club has taken a significant step towards distributing the dictionaries to third and fourth-grade students in the Western Heights School District.
Dale Rogers Training Center, Inc. (DRTC) supports people with disabilities through paid vocational training, in-house programs, and work opportunities as well as competitive community employment. DRTC’s vision statement reads “People with Disabilities Having Access to Training and Employment”. They are celebrating their 70th year anniversary this year. The West Oklahoma City Rotary had the opportunity to lend a hand by passing out water and DJ’ing their end of the year party. We danced, we laughed, and some of the DRTC members even sang karaoke!
